Staph Infection Symptoms
A Staph Infection is an infection caused by Staphylococcus (or "Staph" bacteria). It is a very common bacterium and is generally believed to be present in about 25% of all people. In many cases, it lives upon the skin in the nose, mouth, genital, and anal areas without causing an infection. However, once a cut or puncture occurs, in an area where the bacteria are residing, chances of an infection increase dramatically.
A staph infection, also know as a staphyloccal infection, is a common problem that can happen to anyone on almost any spot on the body. A staph infection is caused by bacteria that sit on the body and then enters through an open cut or wound. Staphyloccal infections can also be caused by touching something that is contaminated by the bacteria or by sharing clothes, towels, or bed linens with someone who is already suffering with a staph infection.
However, one of the best ways to make certain you treat the infection as best as possible is to be certain to keep it clean. Also, it is highly advisable to stay away from the gym for a while because it can be quite easy to give this infection to another person when you are out exercising.
This type of staph infection can circulate rather quickly in common athletic areas such as gyms and fitness centers. This potentially harmful bacteria can be found on sports equipment, in locker rooms, and on personal hygiene care items such as towels, soaps, and razors. MRSA infections are contagiously spread by skin-to-skin contact through an open cut wound, or contact through personal hygiene care items.
Staph infections often begin their infection cycle when they enter your body through a cut or a scrape that you have not covered up. What this means is that you can definitely reduce the risk of contracting staph if you take adequate precautions to properly dress and cover up any cuts or scrapes on any part of your body. You can also contract staph infection by coming in close contact with another infected person.
This kind of bacteria enters the body and causes acne through any cut and wound which remained open for a a long time. It could also enter the body when you pick or squeeze your acne since there's a hole being left open and it becomes easier for the bacteria to enter and cause more infection.
In the beginning as early as the 1940's a popular antibiotic drug was used as a method of treatment against the S.Aureus (Staphyllococcal Aureus) bacteria that caused staph infections. The drug was initially proved to be an effective means of treating staph infections and helped save countless lives in the process.
Like any other bacterial infection, staph infection causes symptoms that vary depending on the severity and location of the infection. It could cause food poisoning, endocarditis (inflamed heart lining) and even pneumonia. The degree of each symptom is also dependant on whether the patient contracted the bacterium or merely the toxin by-product.
The common staph infection cure consists in the administration of an antibiotic ointment on the skin lesions. Such medication can be purchased without prescriptions but you should know that oral antibiotics often complement the treatment. The skin staph infection causes red, swollen areas that could be very painful; the discomfort is only alleviated by the surgical drainage of the abscesses which also increases the recovery speed.
Over the past few years some dangerous Staph bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics. Only recently has the news media focused on this serious new health problem, which is of urgent concern to our schools. These killer bacteria, called methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus or "MRSA", have recently caused panic in schools in the USA. Some infected students have become seriously ill and some have died after these antibiotic resistant bacteria invaded their blood stream.
The Cleveland Browns either are extremely unlucky or have a problem with the medical treatments. The team may have had no less than five to seven players suffer from staph infections after undergoing medical treatments. Kellen Winslow, Jr., their starting tight end, was recently hospitalized with the infection. All hell broke loose when he stated as much against the alleged wishes of the team.
